Heritage, innovation, public engagement, impact

We are a group of researchers who engage with material culture to explore past societies. We are public facing, working with heritage organisations internationally, government, industry and community groups. We employ a variety of research methods including archives research, oral histories, 3D printing, digital data capture, scientific analysis and community heritage practices.

We work undertake research in Britain and beyond, into the ways material culture tell us about the past and present. We are interdisciplinary: working across history, archaeology, heritage, museums, and art and design. Our work has impact on public heritage bodies and government heritage agencies. The D-MACH laboratory provides heritage science services across the UK sector. We have developed a thriving post graduate research community which includes co-creating significant public heritage events.
